Camo #1 & #2 and the silver bullet

As many of you know the great unknown in international travel is not where you’re going but the process in getting to the destination.  We’ll begin in Durham, NC: time post 0900: Audrey is running around the house like a mad woman throwing clothes in bags, and Emily is close behind trying to contain the hurricane mess!  Rick and Megan arrive, bags in car, off to RDU.  We arrive 1 hour before the flight to find crazy lines, frustrated travelers, and malfunctioning kiosk stations! After much sweet talkin’ we finally get boarding passes, check bags, and easily pass through security.

The planned 1 hour RDU stay evolved into our flight being canceled and all day on the phone with our new best friend and greatest travel agent in the world REGINA! With flights delayed and canceled, lines to rebook were insane!   

Emily found a young good-looking Delta agent and the eyelash batting began …. Oh, TommyM …. We love you!  Tommy spent probably an hour with us finalizing the new itinerary, gave us free meal tix, upgraded seats, and politely laughed at our goofiness and corney jokes.  Most memorable moment of that hour when he updated our baggage tickets: TommyM: “So, what color is your bag?”, Emily (laughing): “aaa, Camo straight up Mossy Oak!”, (Audrey gasping for air laughing so hard) Audrey: “Yeah, we’re rhino hunters”, (TommyM dying laughing), TommyM: “And your other bags...”, Em&Aud: “Camo and the silver bullet” (TommyM cried!). Friend #1… check!  We hope this is one of many friends we’ll swap laughs with in the upcoming months.

At 7:45 pm we took off to ATL --> London (Heathrow) --> Amsterdam --> Nairobi --> TZ (arrive 9 am 12/30).

The goofiness continued as we entered the plane and the flight attendants quickly scolded us for being so happy!  They quickly turned around and rewarded us for our good attitudes with free drink tickets, sweet!  After a long day in the airport and looking at our new flight itinerary, a drink wasn’t such a bad idea.  The rest was smooth sailing to Europe!
